This is a fine art print of my painting of my kitty best friend, Mr. Samadhi. I usually paint animals in bold, expressive color. But I created this piece after hearing many times that I must use bright color because I can’t paint realistically. I can. This painting shows that realism is something I can choose when I want, not something I limit myself to. Take that, naysayers! :)

I also love this piece for a very different reason. Most of my paintings of Samadhi explore his spirit and personality through color. This one is especially meaningful to me because it shows him exactly as he looks in real life. Among all the paintings I’ve created of him over the years, this piece holds a special place in my heart because it captures the quiet, familiar presence of the cat I share my life with every day.
